How often should I do cardio and muscle toning workouts for maximum weight loss?

I work out 6-7 days a week. One workout option for me is the Abs Diet 2 DVD (cardio interval training). The other workout is a 45 minute workout by Jackie Warner called Total Body Power Circuit (muscle toning). So, if I plan on working out 7 days a week, how many of those days should be cardio, and how many should be muscle toning. Also, why are both cardio and muscle toning necessary? Thanks!

What cardio is best while trying to build muscle?

I am currently on a muscle building routine in the gym and lift 5 days a week. I am wondering the best cardio to do that won’t hurt my muscle gains. What types of excercises should I do? What part of the day is best? Should I do it before or after my workout? Should I drink a protein shake before?

Any information would be helpful.
