Actually, besides the pay, I don’t see any valid reason for managing the Yankees, do you? The Steinbrenner’s

Chris5150 asked:

are total jerks, the expectations are way too lofty, the media are a bunch of blood sucking leeches, I mean, I would much rather have a laid back managerial job in some city like, I don’t know, San Diego or something. Working for the Steinbrenner’s will give Mattingly high blood pressure (if he doesn’t have it already, gray hair (i’m sure he dyes it) ulcers, etc) Joe Torre had enough of his S H I T. Good for Joe. He should either become an announcer or go to some city that really wants and loves him.

Lord Abnev and Solution Finders Manage High Blood Pressure Naturally with Master cleanser diet

Solution Finders asked:

in China has shown it to be useful in the treatment of symptoms related to high blood pressure such as dizziness, numbness of extremities, tinnitus, headaches, and pain behind the eyes. Another useful herb is Ye Ju Hua or chrysanthemum flower, which has been shown to have a prolonged effect of lowering blood pressure through peripheral vessel dilation. It has also been shown to increase blood flow to the heart. Another herb that is used to clear Liver Heat and is commonly used to treat eye problems that may be beneficial for high blood pressure is Xia Ku Cao or prunella. It may have a sedative and tranquillizing effect. It has been shown to have usefulness for renal hypertension and essential hypertension.

An acupuncturist or Chinese herbalist always takes an inventory of symptoms, along with looking at a person’s tongue and feeling a person’s pulse in order to determine the specific combination of points and herbs that a person needs. They may also help reduce cholesterol. It also may improve microcirculation in the body. In China, pills of Dan Shen are used in the treatment of angina and in the treatment of coronary heart disease. It also may help promote repair and regeneration of tissues by increasing the body’s metabolism.

Certain acupuncture points are also known to be useful in the treatment of patterns related to high blood pressure. Large Intestine 4 is a point that many people know can help to control headaches. It is on the back side of the hand in between the thumb and index finger. It is also commonly used point for blood pressure related patterns. Another point at the vertex of the head, Du 20, is also commonly used. Different people with high blood pressure are treated differently depending on the pattern they present.

During my time in China, I did clinical rounds in the cardiology department at the Chengdu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Modern drugs and diagnostic equipment were used hand in hand with Chinese herbs and acupuncture in order to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias, heart enlargement, and stroke. I even saw Chinese herbs, such as Dan Shen, being given in intravenous and in injectable form. The conditions were diagnosed using modern science and traditional Chinese diagnosis. Drugs were used for symptom control and for emergencies. As people’s condition improved with the use of Chinese herbs and acupuncture, their doctors slowly adjusted the dosage of drugs that they received. The results I saw were better than either form of medicine could have achieved alone. We do not have the benefit of experiencing such a deep synthesis of modern medicine and ancient techniques yet in the West. Nevertheless, I believe that as people learn more about the benefits of Asian medicine, we may someday come close to achieving a more integrated system of care in the West that will be more clinically effective, more cost effective, and result in fewer side effects. Shan Zha, or hawthorn berries, have been shown to reduce cholesterol when taken for six weeks or more. It is often used in China to improve circulation and to treat angina pectoris. Another herb that is commonly used in China for cardiovascular problems is Dan Shen, or Salvia. It has also been shown to reduce cholesterol.

In Chinese Medicine, many of the symptoms of high blood pressure, such as pounding headaches, dizziness, and pressure behind the eyes are often related to a pattern of Liver Yang Rising or Liver Heat. It is important to see a physician for proper diagnosis and supervision of high blood pressure, but acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine may also be useful for managing your condition. Certain herbs have been shown to have an anti-hypertensive effect. Certain other herbs have been shown to be useful for controlling cholesterol levels and improving cardiovascular function. Acupuncture has been shown to have a general relaxing effect which can be useful in stress related or essential hypertension. In addition, certain points are commonly used in the treatment of patterns that relate to high blood pressure.

One commonly used herb for symptoms and patterns related to high blood pressure is Tian Ma or gastrodia rhizome. Chinese research has shown that it has a moderate vasodilating effect. These herbs are often used in combination by practitioners of Oriental Medicine in the treatment of patterns related to high blood pressure.

Other herbs may be useful for improving heart and circulatory function.

Would obstructive sleep apnea disqualify me from passing overseas screening for a navy London assignment?

StageMgr4u asked:

My navy husband and I are scheduled to move (PCS) to London, England. I have a few health issues like high blood pressure, but they’re well managed and under control. However, now I’ve been told I’ll need to use a BiPap machine (basically forced air to keep my airway open during sleep) for my apnea. Does anyone know if this will put me into the Exceptional Family Member category? We’re all so excited about this assignment, and I’d hate to lose it over this.

Review of High Blood Pressure: Knowing About Natural Remedies

Trevor Price asked:

If you’re worried about your blood pressure and want to know more about natural cures for when it is excessive, read on.

An Introduction to Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is very common. However, excessively high blood pressure tends to be genetic and affects approximately 15 to 17 percent of people. Technically, there’s no cure for this condition, but you can make changes in your life to reduce it to a manageable level.

The greatest drawback to high blood pressure is that it can be very dangerous, but there are no unique visible or external symptoms associated with the condition. If your blood pressure is extremely high or it goes up very quickly, you could experience headaches or blurry vision.

There is no cure for this problem, but treatment exists to lower the pressure and manage it on a daily basis. Conventional and complementary therapies aim to find the treatment, or combination of treatments, that suits an individual without causing discomforting side effects. Lifestyle factors should also be examined and changes introduced where necessary.

To learn about specific herbal and natural cures to address the effects, please read on.

Gotu Kola Tea

Gotu Kola tea should be sipped three times every day. Alternatively, you can take this herb in capsule or tablet form. It has few side effects, except for rare instances of nausea and abdominal cramping, which may be an allergic reaction. However, the herb can cause drowsiness and shouldn’t be taken in conjunction with sleep aids or cold medications.

Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed oil has been shown to be effective in reducing high blood pressure, probably due to the effects of the Omega-3 fatty acids it contains. Although cold-water fish have higher levels of Omega-3’s, Flax (along with almonds) is one of the few plants that does contain it. When it’s exposed to air, flaxseed oil can go bad, so you should keep it in a cool place and use it within a month or two of opening it up.

Your best option is to buy fresh flaxseed and store it in your refrigerator. Because the seeds are durable and can pass right through the digestive system, you need to grind or crush them before use. You can utilize a pestle and mortar or a grinder for coffee to crush the seeds. They’re very tasty on cereal or sprinkled over a salad.

Garlic

Garlic has been proven to lower blood pressure by as much as eight points. The great thing about garlic is that it can be added to almost anything. However, once you cook garlic, it becomes less effective, so raw garlic is still your best bet for lowering blood pressure.

If you’re concerned about your breath or ability to eat two, uncooked cloves of garlic every day, you can try garlic capsules. They’re one of the most popular natural cures for high blood pressure and readily available.

Regardless of the healthy approach you select, there is a certain urgency around the need to pursue treatment since left untreated, high blood pressure can be a deadly condition.

Home Based Remedies For High Blood Pressure

Kevin Pederson asked:

Poor diet, lack of exercise, intense weight training and some simple activities like public speaking can make your blood pressure jump. The cause for concern arises if it goes up and remains up. It is one of the most important indicator or cardiovascular problems after the age of 65 and hence needed to be treated. So if you are suffering from high blood pressure, it is vital that you should be under constant medical supervision. But there is no need to worry. You can take care of this problem without using drugs by making simple diet and lifestyle changes. Go for regular exercise, stop smoking, manage stress and change diet to reduce alcohol, fat and salt intake.

You can also follow the following home remedies to treat your blood pressure problems:

• Eat celery: Since centuries, people have used celery and its oil to cure blood pressure. It contains a compound which lowers the blood pressure by relaxing the muscles lining the arteries. This allows the muscles that regulate the blood pressure to dilate. Just by eating 4 celery stalks a day, you can enjoy the potent benefits of this vegetable. • Consume garlic: You can easily lower blood pressure by eating just one clove of garlic a day. You can eat the clove either raw or in capsule form. Besides it also helps to lower cholesterol and triglycerides. • Talk softly: It has been shown that talking loudly and rapidly increases your blood pressure during the normal conversation. But if you do this during angry conversations when you are at your emotional best, the pressure can shoot up still higher. This spikes in the blood pressure if chronic, puts you at the risk of coronary heart disease. However, speaking softly and slowly even when you are angry will eliminate the stress on your cardiovascular system. • Speak the truth: Always speak the truth. Lying has been shown to spike the blood pressure since it takes a lot of brain effort to lie. The more you lie, the more you are stressed and the higher your blood pressure shoots. • Go for aerobic not isometric exercise: Though exercise has been shown to lower the blood pressure, it is important for you to choose the right one. In isometric exercises where you clench and hold like weight training should be avoided. This is because when you hold your breath while lifting will cause the blood pressure to go up temporarily. Choose aerobic exercises in place of isometric exercises. • Laughter is the best medicine: To relax yourself completely, choose laughter. When you laugh, your adrenaline and cortisone levels go down, since these are the main compounds which have an adverse reaction on the blood pressure. It is the cheapest therapy that has benefited everyone greatly but more so the people who are angry, frustrated or unhappy.

Anyone with high blood pressure in pregnancy carry to full term/deliver naturally?

Pregnant with # 2 !! asked:

I’m just wondering how seriously I should be preparing for the early arrival of my little one.

I’m currently 33 weeks and we’re having trouble managing my blood pressure with medication, we’ve upped my dose, and I’m doing the 24 hour urine collection/bed rest fun right now.

I’d like to go into labor naturally when my body is ready and not have to be induced at all.

I haven’t spoken with my doctor about my concerns yet, because I asked my doctor if we could only talk about this optimistically… last night though I really started to worry about how often they induce between 38-40 weeks due to high blood pressure. Obviously I’ll do anything to keep my baby healthy, I just am wondering should I start making sure everything is getting ready for the baby?? [obviously since I’m stuck in bed, have someone else do it for me]
sorry for so many questions on this.. i’m just really worried now!

Father prescribed Blood Pressure tablets & collapsed?

Womburf asked:

My Dad is 54 and very healthy and fit for his age, his GP reckoned his Blood Pressure was slightly high and put him on some blood pressure tablets and beta blockers? (not sure what these are) He was driving his van down a motorway when he felt his vision going bleached and fading and he thought he was going to die, he managed to pull into a layby and thought getting in the back of his transit van to lie down may help, but he collapsed outside the van before he had chance to open back doors, luckily a passing motorist pulled over and called 999, his head was gushing with blood and it turns out he has broken his clavicle (shoulder/ collar bone) he was taken to a local hospital and there they deemed he should not even be on these tablets as his blood pressure is fine! he was doing as instructed by GP and taking these tablets, all the while they were lowering his blood pressure dangerously low, as his normal blood pressure was within normal limits and not high at all. My dad is very lucky he did not crash and so are other motorists if he had crashed into them, plus he was driving back from Devon after being on a Sea Kayaking holiday, what if this happened while he was kayaking, he would of drowned! I am furious beyond words, and me and my brother will be seeking legal advice, we nearly lost our Dad! The hospital that treated him for his injuries compiled a CD/DVD to give to his normal GP when he got home and to say OI look what you did basically, his GP surgery are “investigating” but no one has got back to him yet and this was last week. I have no idea where to start on this short of going to solicitors, has anyone got any advice of websites that may help point us in the right direction, what if this happens to some one else. We have already had 2 family deaths this year (old age being one and cancer the other) coming close to losing Dad like this would be devastating. Sorry for the long post, need to rant and get help lol
NB: I don’t know the name of the tablets i am finding out.
Thanks for reading this

Waiting For A Cure For High Blood Pressure

Michelle Bery asked:

Elevated blood pressure can affect a person’s life in a number of ways; high blood pressure puts a strain on the heart and left untreated can have devastating effects, kidney failure, cardiac arrest, and stroke among them. While a cure for high blood pressure is on the horizon, there is nothing yet that can completely eradicate high blood pressure.

Rather an individual cure for high blood pressure can be found in the way each person who suffers from high blood pressure can effectively manage the condition. For some, diet and exercise play a large role in affecting blood pressure. With the help of a doctor, a person with high blood pressure should attempt to eliminate high salt, high fat foods. Instead the focus should be on natural, whole foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Water intake should be increased to meet the recommended eight glasses of water a day. Additionally, daily physical exercise should be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to these changes, smokers should immediately quit the habit, as smoking has been linked to a multitude of diseases including high blood pressure. Increased alcohol and caffeine consumption have also been linked to high blood pressure. Since there is no specific cure for high blood pressure, sufferers must make every change available to them in order to manage their condition.

These changes will, at the least, increase overall health and vitality and, at best, will significantly lower blood pressure. In this way diet and exercise can be tantamount to a cure for high blood pressure in some patients.

When diet, exercise, and other lifestyle changes aren’t enough then in many cases you are dealing with a genetic predisposition for high blood pressure. This is the group of patients on whom a cure for high blood pressure will have the most impact. But in order to control blood pressure for those who have failed to manage it with other changes, medication has been shown to be very effective. And while daily medication is not defined necessarily as a cure for high blood pressure, it is a way in which sufferers can protect themselves.

With the assistance of your doctor and a plan in place to manage your condition, you can live a healthy and safe life until a cure for high blood pressure can be found.
