How do you stop your blood from boiling and your blood pressure from rising from family get togethers?

_ asked:

UGH! Please tell me someone know how to deal with the in-laws. Every time I get an update on their lives, I want to explode or hire a hit man! It’s awful and I was never a hateful person until I truly got to know them. All they want is to annoy my husband and me. My husband can’t tell his family “NO!” for some reason and I get a nice piece of “deal with it” on my lap. Everyone knows that having to deal with someone else’s family isn’t fun and you almost always come out the b!+ch. For example, I told my mother in law through email that her actions are not acceptable ( I gave precise examples, she called my husband and cried) My husband demanded I call and say I’m sorry, but I said, “I can’t because I’m not sorry.” She expected me to say that I’m sorry for telling her to stop feeding my daughter table food, stop sticking her hands in her mouth, and stop sharing straws with a newborn baby! She’s nuts!!!

Anyways, I just feel the anxiety rise over me any time I think about them or hear about how “wonderful” their lives are and when they put us down. Get this: my mother in law bought a mini van for the sole purpose of taking her 3 kids, my husband, my daughter, and me to places that cost money ie. the mall, aquarium, fair, water parks which a baby can’t go to, etc. While we are together at these places, she brags about how she’s rich making $60,000 a year and later I catch her in a lie when she says she makes $12 an hour and works less than full time. Hmm I wonder how she got her financial advisor certfication… oh wait, she must be a scam artist! She only lives off of unearned income and sues everyone so she can receive huge settlement checks that she literally BLOWs on restaurants, movies, and fun things. I am just so peeved by her that I do and say things hoping that they will go away! Sometimes my hints aren’t strong enough and they continue! So far, it’s been 2 months since I’ve seen her.. hopefully it continues!

I can’t quite swallow pills, so is there a way to stop the blood from boiling and to stop the high blood pressure? I was induced in my pregnancy because my blood pressure was through the roof (I lived with her for two months while pregnant and I could have died!) It still remains dangerously high when I must deal with her and her children! (with the exception of my husband who managed to escape from her unruly parenting)
I try to stay away from them (I don’t attend get togethers and don’t visit every Sunday like we used to before we lived with her). Everything changed since I lived with my husband’s mom and sisters. I truly got to see the side of them that I never want to see again. What manipulative monsters!

Can I have hypertension if I control my diabetes?

confused asked:

I’m 29 , female and was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in February and since then taking metformin 500mg twice a day and diet and exercise changes. My weight dropped from 59kg to 52kg now, and my BMi is 23.7. My blood glucose is normal now, below 6.2 pre breakfast.
However, after my visit to doc, my blood pressure up at 140/88. I never had high blood pressure before, but I may have overindulged on some high salt food and snacks some days before the test and am constantly stressed.
Can I have hypertension even if I control my blood glucose? Or does the eating and stressing have something to do with it ? How many times do I have to test them?
Sometimes I get panic attack and afraid to see the doc. Does that contribute to the pressure? If so, how can I manage them?

Understanding Alcohol And High Blood Pressure

Michelle Bery asked:

Being diagnosed with high blood pressure can leave you confused and overwhelmed. How can something that you don’t even feel affect you so much? For many the diagnosis comes as a surprise and is quickly followed by feelings of vulnerability. It can feel as though no matter what you do you are somehow at the mercy of this silent predator.

But as you educate yourself, you begin to find that you have more control over the situation than you might have thought. Your doctor will surely discuss with you the positive impact that a healthy diet and exercise can have on high blood pressure. And you’ll undoubtedly be told to quit smoking if you are hooked; as well as cutting down on caffeine and managing stress.

But what you may have also been told is that excessive alcohol and high blood pressure do not mix. While alcohol in moderation is acceptable, too much can serve to exacerbate hypertension. Alcohol and high blood pressure has been studied extensively be researchers who have found that if you enjoy a drink now and then, try to limit your consumption to one or two drinks a week. Red wine is, by far, the best choice as its properties have a variety of health benefits.

Certainly many people enjoy having a few drinks at the end of a long and stressful day to help them unwind. And often this can have a positive impact on blood pressure. But when alcohol and high blood pressure combine aggressively - as when too much alcohol is consumed - then the results can be far from positive.

Additionally, if it is found that you require medication to control your hypertension then alcohol should be severely restricted, if not eliminated all together. Medication and alcohol do not mix on any level; alcohol can complicate the effects of medication, if not render it useless. Be sure to check with your doctor about instructions regarding alcohol and high blood pressure.

Blood pressure can be successfully managed with a commitment to changes in lifestyle and consistent medical guidance. Understanding alcohol and high blood pressure - along with the other factors that can affect your blood pressure - can ensure a lifetime of health.

Exploring Alternative Medicine For High Blood Pressure

Michelle Bery asked:

For the millions of people who suffer from hypertension, the quest to find the magic formula that lowers blood pressure is ongoing. Unfortunately, there is no cure for high blood pressure - only the opportunity to manage it properly. Yet managing high blood pressures means different things for different people depending on the causes that can be determined for each person.

For some, genetic predisposition plays the predominant role in hypertension. In some of these cases, even with diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes, high blood pressure persists, requiring prescription medication to keep it under control.

But for many, alternative medicine for high blood pressure can significantly lower blood pressure numbers. One of the best forms of alternative medicine for high blood pressure is a healthy diet. Sufferers of high blood pressure will realize significant changes in their overall health by eliminating most processed foods, as well as those foods that contain excessive sodium, fat, and preservatives. Minimizing fried foods is another step in the right direction. Using diet as an alternative medicine for high blood pressure means focusing on whole, natural foods such as fresh vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

Another alternative medicine for high blood pressure is consistent physical exercise. Implementing an exercise program wherein you commit yourself to a small amount of physical activity every day will go a long way towards improving your overall health and lowering your blood pressure. As you continue your exercise program, you will find that your stamina increases and you’ll be able to commit to longer and more strenuous physical activity. This alternative medicine for high blood pressure will grant you longevity and enormous amounts of energy.

Many people report that chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture treatments work quite well as an alternative medicine for high blood pressure. Chiropractic works to align the spine, restoring balance to the body’s system functions. It stands to reason that blood pressure - along with other functions of the body - would be positively impacted. Acupuncture is generally used to relax different areas of the body; any relaxation can work towards lowering blood pressure.

Stress - a significant contributor to high blood pressure - must be minimized by any cost. So as an alternative medicine for high blood pressure, many sufferers of the condition turn to meditation, yoga, and other forms of stress relief to help lower the heart rate and reduce hypertension.

Some people insist that certain herbs and vitamins are a great alternative for high blood pressure. But if you are eating a proper diet you will be sure to get all the nutrients that are necessary to do the trick. Experimenting with different natural herbs may be beneficial but always consult a doctor prior to giving anything a try.
